The T-Rex 600 Nitro (often called the ‘600N’) is a swift and
refined helicopter produced by the Taiwanese based Align Corporation. This stunning helicopter is Aligns’
first nitro powered model. The .50 sized model is powered by a 0.50in 3 two stroke engine that burns a
mixture of methanol, oil and nitro methane. A new G-10 Glass Fiber frame set is installed in this TRex, which
proves to bring no reduce damage in case of any crashes. Along with the new frame set, the 600N features a
bump resistance plastic canopy, which then further assists in a rigid but easy clip on/off design for fast
installation and removal. Its smooth and weightless design gives a superb and stable hovering and
flight.
With a length of 1160mm and a height of 410mm, this TRex has a
Ready-to-fly weight of 7pounds or 3.20Kg, and carries 28 degrees of collective pitch. The 600N also includes
a 440cc fuel tank capacity, designed in such a way that no additional header tank is needed. Another feature
of this helicopter is its battery tray, which is essentially designed for an easy radio gear installation.
There is a clutch/start shaft feature which gives a 10mm ID one way bearing, removing any problems for
starting or flight.
The TRex has a new main gear, with a ration of 8.5:1 (1500-2200
Rotor RPM), designed in a one-way bearing to give a high torque. A new flybar control set design is included
within this model, along with new flybar paddles. One of the biggest highlights of this TRex 600
Nitro is its heavy-duty tail, with thrust bearings, and the new tail boom supports. The 95mm blades on the
tail give a remarkable 50 sized performance. Also, there is an addition of a cooling system feature which
provides a large diameter fan and an effective airflow. This generates high cooling and
horsepower.
The 600N comes in three versions: Pro, Sport, and Super Pro. The
Pro version comprises of a fiber glass canopy, carbon fiber frames, and a torque tube driven tail. The Sport
version has a plastic canopy, fiberglass frames and a belt driven tail. The Super Pro version comes with
aluminum upgrades, re-branded O.S. .50 Hyper, and an Align governor and regulator.
From the nose piece to the tail, Align
has beautifully crafted this helicopter, making its flight and speed equal to larger more expensive
helicopters. The minor details show how well thought through the design is, with all the many hooks, sticky
pads, and loop tapes which aid in mounting things to it. One little beneficial feature is the ability to
remove the tail boom completely, without touching the rest of the helicopter.
The TRex 600 Nitro is both robust and light, and a pleasure to own
and fly.
